Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy is a rehabilitation healthcare profession that aims to enable people of all ages to perform meaningful daily activities. It focuses on promoting physical and mental well-being and adapting the surrounding environment to match an individual's abilities. Occupational therapy also helps individuals regain independence in their daily life activities.

Areas of Occupational Therapy

  • Self-care: eating, dressing, and bathing.
  • Productivity: work, education, and household responsibilities.
  • Leisure: hobbies, sports, and social participation.

Tools and Methods

  • Therapeutic exercises to improve fine and gross motor skills.
  • Training in daily living skills through real-life simulation activities.
  • Modifying the home or workplace environment to suit the individual's needs.
  • Using assistive technology and adaptive devices.
  • Providing psychological support and motivation to enhance self-confidence and acceptance of one's condition.

Core Principle

Occupational therapy focuses on enabling individuals to perform the activities they want or need to do but are unable to accomplish, by removing barriers and improving their functional abilities.

Imam Al-Hadi (Peace Be Upon Him) Center for Neurological and Muscular Disorders

  • Provides physical therapy, occupational therapy, and robotic rehabilitation services.

  • Includes specialized rehabilitation halls.
  • Organizes free rehabilitation and treatment initiatives for the community.

Imam Al-Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him) Institute for the Rehabilitation of Children with Autism, ADHD, and Attention Disorders

  • A specialized institute dedicated to rehabilitating children with autism spectrum disorder and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
  • Offers psychological, educational, and rehabilitation programs to support children's academic and developmental progress.

Other Rehabilitation Facilities

  • Family counseling sessions to train parents on caring for children with autism or cerebral palsy.

Al-Subtain Institute and Al-Subtain Academy

Rehabilitation Center at Al-Subtain University

The center consists of three main departments:

  • Occupational Rehabilitation: improves fine motor and cognitive skills to enhance independence in daily activities.
  • Physical Rehabilitation: enhances movement, balance, and physical abilities through advanced rehabilitation programs.
  • Speech and Language Rehabilitation: treats speech and swallowing disorders and rehabilitates patients recovering from brain injuries.

The center provides comprehensive rehabilitation services through specialized professionals and modern equipment, with the goal of helping patients reintegrate into society and achieve the highest possible level of independence.
